For the past 21 years thanks to the Rotary Club of Wellesley, every fourth grader in Wellesley has been given a tree to plant at home in honor of Arbor Day.
To that end, on Tuesday, April 17, Suzy Jordon, Wellesley’s Town Horticultural Technician, will lead a group of 12 volunteers in bagging over 500 white spruce seedlings with dirt in plastic bags for distribution to all fourth graders. She also teaches a lesson on Arbor Day conservation while handing out the trees.
Bagging the saplings is a fun project and only takes about 90 minutes. Volunteers will gather Tuesday, April 17 at the Department of Public Works, 30 Municipal Way, at 4:30pm. All volunteers will receive a 20% discount on tickets to the Taste of Wellesley Event on May 3rd at Elm Bank Reservation. Any questions, call the Rotary Club at 781-591- 0759
