Orangetheory Fitness, a chain that specializes in 60-minute cardiovascular and strength training workouts backed by “science” (!), says on its website that it is readying a location in Wellesley Square. It’s unclear how soon this will happen, but likely late this summer.
We messaged Orangetheory about the Wellesley space last week and have not heard back.
The site at 56 Central St., next to Lux Bond & Green, used to be the home to the Chico’s women’s fashion store. The space has been vacant since mid-2016.
Orangetheory says on its website that it has more than 450 locations across the United States (including in downtown Natick), and many more locations across the world. Its fitness facilities feature weights, treadmills, rowing machines, suspension training, showers and more.
Orangetheory’s website says the cost of its classes varies by studio. Will there be a Wellesley tax at this new studio located in prime real estate territory? We’ll have to see.
Orangetheory will add to the slew of fitness places in town, including right in Wellesley Square’s sweat strip (i.e., Btone, B/Spoke, The Bar Method, H.Y.P. Studio).
