Boston landmarks, from Fenway Park to the Boston Pops, will be the theme for this year’s Junior Class Auction, the biggest fundraiser of the year for the WHS Class of 2019. The food-and-fun event, open to all members of the community, takes place on April 7 at 7pm at Wellesley High.
The event will feature many Boston-themed live and silent auction packages including Red Sox and Celtics tickets, an Evening at The Boston Pops, a WGBH Studio Tour, and a Day in the Kitchen at Island Creek Oyster Bar with Chef Jeremy Sewall, a Class of 2019 parent who will also be providing food to auction attendees.
Scores of Wellesley businesses and families have donated items to support the auction. For those seeking a unique experience, they can bid on the Zamboni ride at a Boston Bruins game, or the Lunch Tour at the home of Lynne Smith, Wellesley resident and award-winning Fenway Fan, to get an inside look at her collection of Red Sox memorabilia and custom-themed wardrobe.
Members of the junior class have also contributed auction items, including handmade jewelry, an a cappella performance and drum lessons.
Proceeds from the auction are used to fund events for the Class of 2019, including the Junior Boat Cruise, Senior Banquet and Senior Prom. As always, a portion of funds raised will go to a charitable cause. This year’s class has chosen to support Oceana.org, an organization that was special to Sarah Calcio, a Class of 2019 student who passed away in November.
