Second annual Beebe Meadow Appreciation and Clean-up Day, May 5

Beebe Meadow, Wellesley
It looks like a daffodil project was once undertaken in Beebe Meadow. A few stalwarts pop up every spring.

The second annual Beebe Meadow and Clean-up day will be held on Saturday, May 5, 9am – 1pm.

You can access the Meadow via Cartwright Rd., Benvenue St., or Lehigh Rd.

The Town of Wellesley has been hard at work in the meadow since last spring’s clean-up day. The Department of Public Works has removed several dead trees and cleared out a good deal of invasive brush. This year, volunteers will join in and pull and cut invasive plants, pick up trash, trim dead tree limbs, and move all debris to Town-provided dumpsters.

Come to work or just to show support — even one hour will make a difference. If you have a student who needs community service hours, we can help them get credit.

Suggested gear:

  • Clothing appropriate to the weather
  • White or light-colored socks pulled up over the bottom of your pants OR wear tall boots (protect yourself from ticks, mud, thorns)
  • Garden gloves
  • A hat if it’s sunny (let’s hope so)
  • Bug spray
  • Your favorite garden tools: clippers, rakes, pruners, loppers, hand saws (all marked with your name)

An abundance of munchkins will be provided throughout the morning.

Here are a few pics of some of the tangles volunteers are likely to encounter:

Lots of debris from winter storms mean that organizers will need all the hands/backs they can get.
