Wellesley Business Buzz: High school art at Page Waterman; realtor taking over storefront?; commuter rail helper

Here’s the latest in Wellesley business news:

Next Up at Page Waterman Gallery

The Gallery at Page Waterman Fine Framing will feature paintings, pottery, photography and sculptures by local high school students in its second annual NEXT UP! juried art exhibition.

Over 100 students from public and independent high schools in Wellesley, Weston, Needham, Newton, Natick and Westwood digitally submitted their artwork for a review process. From there, 65 pieces were chosen by a group of prestigious jurors and will be displayed in an exhibition that will run  May 6-14 at the 26 Church St. store in Wellesley Square store, now celebrating 101 years of art and custom framing in Wellesley Square

All are welcome to a reception on Sunday, May 6,  2pm – 4pm. Prizes for first, second and third place, plus honorable mentions will be announced during the reception.

Wellesley commuter rail riders to get more of a clue

Keolis, the MBTA’s operating partner for the commuter rail, has announced an updated MBTA Commuter Rail App that includes a new interface, push notification train alerts, average seat availability, track assignments, average on-time performance data and real-time train tracking. As a regular rider myself, I can vouch for the T’s relatively on-time performance of late, though trains have often been SRO at peak times.

Passengers can set a reminder to alert them 5, 10, 15 or 30 minutes before a train’s arrival or departure.

The app also allows passengers to submit feedback to the customer service team, and it includes Lost & Found forms.

Keolis’s updated MBTA Commuter Rail App is available at the Apple App Store and Google Play. It is available in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese (Brazil) and Chinese.

Realtor taking over storefront?

Word on the street is that a realtor could be taking over the space on Forest Street in between Wellesley Variety and Deluxe Pizza that was vacated last year by Chyten tutoring when it moved to another Wellesley location. That’s all we’ve got for you on this at the moment.
