Wellesley hockey community shows support for Canadian junior team involved in fatal crash

The hockey community in Wellesley is mourning those killed in a bus crash in Canada over the weekend that claimed the lives of 15 people, including 10 Humbolt Broncos junior hockey team players and 2 coaches.

Mary Beth Mosher Grimm reached out to us as part of an effort to encourage Wellesley residents to honor those who died and were injured in the crash by putting a hockey stick on their porch, as families across Canada are doing.

“As long time hockey mothers, we are setting out to bring this poignant tribute to Wellesley,” she wrote in a Facebook post. “We are asking that over the next couple of days you put a stick by the door on your front porch. Let us show the people of Humboldt that the hockey community really is one family, both near and far, and we are with them as they struggle through this terrible time.”
