The Wellesley High School girls’ lacrosse team knocked off previously undefeated Walpole in the Division 1 state title game on Saturday night at Boston University.
At a venue where spectators were surprised to find no concessions being served, the Raiders proved to be hungrier than Walpole. Wellesley took a 1-0 lead just before the 17-minute mark of the first half and never relinquished the lead in a 7-5 game. Wellesley scored an empty net goal with less than a minute to go to ice the win.
Walpole had beaten Wellesley back in May for one of just 3 defeats for the Raiders this season.
