Snapping turtles are mostly harmless to people when in the water. However, on land, a big snapper can easily take off a finger. Their strike is as fast as a snake’s and their necks are longer than you think. Best to leave these guys alone. If they are out of the water, they are probably looking for a good place to lay eggs.
