Here’s a roundup of the latest Wellesley business news:
Alta Strada re-opens
Alta Strada is back serving its signature Italian dishes at 92 Central St. in Wellesley Square. Back in late June, a sign on the front door informed would-be customers and passersby that the Italian restaurant had closed for repairs. That’s all done now, and the business is serving up pasta once more.
Townsman restaurant: Farm-to-Table-to-Closed
When we started hearing the buzz about Boston’s Townsman restaurant 3 years ago we made mention of it (“What’s next, the Swellesley Report cafe?”) given both that the owner/chef Matt Jennings claimed Wellesley roots in his bio and the name of the restaurant had us wondering if it might be an ode to the old town newspaper. Neither Jennings nor his restaurant’s PR firm ever responded to our inquiries, so we moved on.
Now the restaurant’s team is moving on too, as Boston’s Townsman has announced it is closing.
Maybe Jennings will redirect some energy Wellesley’s way now. In the meantime, if you need a dose of farm-to-table eating, check out Natick’s new Buttercup.
Really another real estate storefront
As we reported back in April, it looked like a real estate firm would be taking over the Forest Street space in between Wellesley Variety and Deluxe Pizza that was vacated last year by Chyten tutoring when it moved to another Wellesley location. Well, it’s true.
