On August 21, 2018, the Board of Selectmen announced that the Town is establishing a new Google group-based system to facilitate communications between Town Meeting Members and the general public regarding issues coming before Town Meetings. The Google group will be open to Town Meeting members and the general public, including residents and non-residents alike. Messages will not be curated and represent the unfiltered opinions of the sender. Participants should be aware that all communications posted to the group will be treated as public records and will be available online for five years or more.
The Town expects to bring the Google group online Thursday August 30th. At that time, an announcement with further details on the Google group and a link to join it will be made via the Town Meeting and Board of Selectmen “News and Announcements” update service. The link to join the Google group will also be available on the Town’s website.
To encourage participation, invitations to join will be emailed to Town Meeting Members. It will be at the discretion of each Town Meeting Member, and the public, to decide whether or not to join and how much to participate.
The Town Clerk will continue to email information directly to Town Meeting Members, including the Warrant, motions, logistics, the scorecards and messages from the Moderator.
