The Tiny Tots Playgroup at Elmwood Chapel at 42 Elmwood Rd., gets going again on Wednesday, September 12 from 9:30-11:30a.m. Tiny Tots runs on Wednesday and Thursday mornings during the school year, and follows the Wellesley school calendar.
Founded in September 2000, Tiny Tots is a playgroup for children from birth through age 4 and their caregivers. All are welcome.
The program consists of free play with a wide variety of toys and activities, including ride toys (for hallway racing), Play Doh, crafts, and coloring pages. Snacks (peanut-free) are provided. During the last half-hour, there’s a song and story time, which includes a Bible story, a parade with musical instruments for all, and ball and parachute play. Participants may come and go at any time.
A nursery suite includes a changing table and supplies, a nearby sink, rocking chairs, and a crib. A $1 donation per child per visit is suggested, but no payment is required. All volunteers are CORI- and SORI-certified, and there’s often a retired nurse on the premises.
This is not a drop-off event. Caregivers must remain throughout the entire time.
Parking is available at Elmwood Chapel’s lot, plus along the near side of Elmwood Rd., and at the neighboring Kelly Memorial Park lot. Go to the side door near the preschool’s playground and ring the bell for the Church Office/Tiny Tots.
