The Wellesley Town Band is gearing up for its sixth season, led by interim director Daryl Robbins. What started out six years ago as a 13-member group grew to over 45 instrumentalists by the end of last year, and now the band is putting out a call to new woodwind, brass, and percussion players to join.
The band meets most Monday evenings from September to June, and takes a relaxed approach to music making, with the emphasis on enjoyment of playing marches, show tunes, light classical and traditional wind band music.
The first rehearsal of the new season is Monday, September 17, from 7:00 to 8:30pm in the Wellesley High School band room. Registration is through the Recreation Department, either in person or online . (This online link may generate a “NOTICE MESSAGE Your current session has ended” dialog box; just click “OK”. The band’s activity number is #545899). You can also register at the first couple of rehearsals, but must bring a check for $160 (Wellesley residents) or $170 (non-Wellesley residents).
The fee covers the cost of rehearsals and at least 4 concerts. Note that new players can wait a few weeks before paying.
