Why you might see a license plate with 3Y on it in Wellesley

September 11, 2018 by Bob Brown

Massachusetts has just revealed its list of low number license plate lottery winners, and one Wellesley resident is among the lucky getting dibs on 201 available plate numbers.

While I’m not quite sure why people want these plates, congrats are in order for Wellesley’s Richard Pevear, whose winning plate number is 3Y. Not sure if there’s any significance to it, but if you happen to read this, Richard, feel free to let us know.

Wellesley’s Michael Raider is on the list of alternate winners, in case those on the main list don’t grab their plate.

The plate lottery kicked off during June, and applications needed to be in by the end of August. It’s free to enter the lottery, but you do have to pay for your new plate and plate registration as you would for any new plate.
