It looks as though Wellesley commuter rail goers, and others who walk along the Crest Road and Linden Street intersection, will now have to walk a few more steps. So if you find yourself puzzling over why your loved one has started to come home a few seconds later, know that there’s a valid excuse.
The town has installed one of those bike-shaped bicycle racks along the stretch of land at that intersection where many a commuter has worn out a dirt path to save a few steps rounding the corner. Grass has been seeded as well to cover over the dirt path.
We certainly don’t begrudge the bike rack going in, and for at least a couple of cyclists, they may actually get to shave a few seconds off their commutes. For those of us who hoof it, we’ll just have to learn to deal with the change. Be strong, Wellesley, be strong.
