Elm Bank Reservation, Wellesley

If you’re seeking a little holiday spirit and a touch of glitter and magic, check out Massachusetts Horticultural Society’s 10th annual Festival of Trees, November 23 – December 9  Mass Hort’s Elm Bank property, 900 Washington Street, Wellesley. The festival showcases over 65 Christmas trees in the Hunnewell Building and features Snow Village, an extensive model train and holiday village collection.

Raffle tickets will be on sale for the chance to win one of the beautiful trees, decorations and all. Just slide your raffle ticket(s) into the slot in front of your favorite trees (26 tickets for $10). The drawing takes place on December 9, and a Mass Hort representative will contact you if you’re a winner. With 65 trees being raffled off, surely the odds are good.

Visitors can also stroll the decorated buildings and grounds at Elm Bank, and on Saturdays and Sundays enjoy a horse- drawn wagon ride and a visit from Santa.

Don’t miss Snow Village, an enchanted exhibit of holiday villages and trains. Its creator, Bill Meagher of Needham, continues to add more intricate figures to the towns and villages. Snow Village is located in the Education Building, where model trains wind through Dicken’s Village, as well as old favorites, Fenway Park, Beacon Hill, and Snow Mountain. Recent additions include: Downton Abbey, an amusement park with a Ferris Wheel and Spin Ride, and a Santa Observation Tower. You have got to see it to believe it.
