Wellesley Cotillion to be at Boston University for 3rd time — kids must be doing something right

November 21, 2018 by Deborah Brown Leave a Comment

Wellesley Cotillion, 2018
Cotillion 2018. Looking good, guys.

The elegantly dressed and impeccably mannered young men and women of Wellesley have been invited for the third year running to attend the Wellesley Cotillion on January 5, 2019 at Boston University’s Metcalf Hall Ballroom, on the second floor of the George Sherman Union Building, 775 Commonwealth Avenue, Boston. The 7:30pm – 10:30pm event will host approximately 800 attendees.

The Wellesley Cotillion began in the 1940s as a formal dance for young adults to practice their social graces. Today it is an elegant winter formal for all high school juniors and seniors who reside in Wellesley or attend Wellesley High School. That means whether you’re public schooled, private schooled, or home-schooled, if you are a junior or senior, you are cordially invited.

Travel in the lap of luxury

A $125 Cotillion ticket includes luxury motor coach service from either Wellesley High School (WHS) or the Yawkey Club of Roxbury to the Boston event, as well as the return trip back to WHS or the Yawkey Club. All attendees must use this mandatory transportation in both directions. The event is organized and executed solely by parent-volunteers and is not affiliated in any way with the Wellesley Public Schools. Organizers do use WHS and the Yawkey Club as check- in and motor coach launch sites because of their central location, ample parking, motor coach accessibility, and brightly lit, well-equipped spaces.

Invitations will be mailed, via USPS, to all 11th and 12th graders residing in Wellesley and/or attending WHS. If your household gets missed and you’d like to receive an invitation, please email the Cotillion Committee at wellesleycotillion@gmail.com. Guests must purchase their Cotillion ticket on-line by December 30, 2018.

Cotill is for all

Come enjoy the fun of luxury, round-trip transportation by chartered coach, music, dancing, refreshments, and so much more. Cotillion organizers believe cost should never be a barrier to participation. Financial assistance is available for tickets, tux rental, and dress purchases. Confidential inquiries for assistance may be made via email to the Cotillion Committee.

All hands on deck

Parent/guardian volunteers are needed. Here is the volunteer link.

The Wellesley Cotillion Committee is a non-profit group of parent volunteers from the town of Wellesley. For over seventy years, residents and businesses have come together to support the Wellesley Cotillion. Financial assistance is available and confidential inquiries may be sent to wellesleycotillion@gmail.com. If the ticket price is an obstacle, Cotillion organizers want to help. Funds are also available for Tux rentals and dress purchases. For additional information or to make a donation, please contact a
committee member or visit our website. Please note the Wellesley Cotillion Snow Policy: The Cotillion will ONLY be canceled if Governor Baker or Mayor Walsh declare a snow emergency or travel ban. In the event of winter weather, parents and families should make their own decisions to attend Cotillion based on their own comfort level.
