Babson College has named Jiffy Lube co-founder Dr. Stephen Spinelli Jr. ,who has deep roots at the school as a student, professor and administrator, as its 14th president, effective July 1, 2019. No word yet on whether incoming students will get a free oil change thrown in with their acceptances.
Spinelli, MBA ’92, will succeed Dr. Kerry Healey, who announced that she would be stepping down at the end of this academic year.
Babson, which already is highly ranked in entrepreneurship education, will gain a leader who has excelled in business innovation.

During his 14 years at Babson, Spinelli has served as the Alan Lewis Chair in Global Management, Chair of the Entrepreneurship Division, Director of The Arthur M. Blank Center for Entrepreneurship, and Vice Provost for Entrepreneurship and Global Management. He’s also in Babson’s Alumni Entrepreneur Hall of Fame.
Not that Spinelli has been all Babson all the time. He also led Philadelphia University for 10 years, and oversaw that school’s merger with Thomas Jefferson University during his tenure. Watch out Wellesley College!
