Thanks to Julie Newman, who along with her family spotted this bald eagle on Longfellow Pond in Wellesley.
The state’s MassWildlife organization reported last month that 2018 has been a record year for bald eagles in Massachusetts, with 76 territorial pairs identified. If you suspect a nest is in your area, you’re encouraged to report this to state orinthologist Andrew Vitz.

Past eagle sightings in Wellesley have included birds at Lake Waban and Reeds Pond.
