Wellesley Girls Scouts movie screening: The Bee Movie

Wellesley Girl Scouts

In other Girl Scouts news…

This month marks two years since the Town of Wellesley’s plastic bag bylaw went into effect, and Wellesley Girls Scout Troop #7305 is making sure the anniversary doesn’t go by unnoticed. To remind residents of Wellesley’s bag ban bylaw, troop members are working with the Board of Selectmen and the Natural Resources Commission (NRC) on a campaign to encourage shoppers to reduce waste and use reusable shopping bags.

The project is part of a Girl Scout Silver Award completed by Hannah Cronin, Lily McDonough, and Georgia Webster with the guidance of parent Sally Webster. In support of the Girl Scouts’ efforts, the Board of Selectman has once again declared the month
of January as Bring Your Own (BYO) Bag Month.

To increase community awareness, the girls will be handing out reusable bags provided by the NRC at the Wellesley Roche Brothers on Tuesday January 15, from 3 to 4:15 p.m. and at the Wellesley Recycling and Disposal Facility (RDF) on Saturday January 26, from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m.
