The Wellesley Garden Club will present a special program on Thursday, February 28, 2019, 10 am, at the Wakelin Room of the Public Library: “Preservation and Maintenance of Wellesley Cultural Landscapes” with the Town’s Landscape Planner, Cricket Vlass, who for 36 years has been working at the Park and Tree Division of the DPW. She will highlight the unique opportunities she had designing, building and maintaining Wellesley’s parks, municipal buildings and traffic islands. She will partner with Brandon Schmitt, the Director of Wellesley’s Natural Resources Commission since 2014, whose responsibility it is to uphold the mission of the NRC and guide the preservation and maintenance initiatives on the Town’s open spaces under the jurisdiction of the NRC.

Cricket and Brandon will engage in conversation with the audience about the many natural resources and environmental opportunities, as well as the challenges Wellesley faces now and in the future. They will share ideas about how residents can help the local environment, and discuss other topics of interest with respect to the public open spaces in the town.
The public is cordially invited.
