Christie Yu, now a freshman at Yale, spearheaded a tutoring program last fall for Wellesley grade school students seeking to strengthen their math, reading and writing skills. Yu worked with her academic advisors to launch the National Honor Society tutoring program at the Wellesley Commuter Center, where she was a junior board member.
The program continues this year, led by other students. Wellesley Community Center Junior Board Member Charlotte Harrington has worked with fellow Wellesley High National Honor Society members Matthew Karofsky and Tristan Martello to continue the tutoring tradition.
The free program is available Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-7:30 pm at Wellesley Community Center, 219 Washington St. For more information, email: [email protected].
