Wellesley Middle School Girl Scouts in partnership with the Wellesley Natural Resources Commission has placed labels on public trees along Central Street in Wellesley Square that illustrate how these trees contribute to air quality.

Scouts collected data on the trees between Weston Road and Abbott Street for Lisa Moore, Wellesley’s environmental outreach and education coordinator. She used i-Tree MyTree software developed by the USDA Forestry Service to compute how much carbon dioxide each tree stores annually and over its lifetime. The label also shows the amount of pollution removed annually. Each tree has a QR code to scan for more information.
