It’s been a fantastic spring for Wellesley High School sports teams, but no group has been as dominant in recent years as the girls’ track & field team. A week after Natick beat Wellesley at the Division 1 East championships, the Raiders came right back to top Natick at All-States in Westfield for its second straight title. The girls have also won 2 straight indoor titles.
Anna Jordahl-Henry led the way with a meet record 24.31 in the 200-meter dash, plus a victory in the high jump at 5 feet, 8 inches. Abby Comella’s 2nd place finish in the 400-meter race and the team’s top-5 performances in the 4×100 and 4×400 relays assured the 38-35 overall margin vs. a deep Natick High team. (More details in Boston Globe story.)
The team reacts to finding out it won here, in this Tweet from the Boston Herald.
As for the boys, their highlight was a 4×800 relay win, an event they’ve ruled this season. Colby Zarle, Jason Norris, Jackson O’Toole and Bennett MacDougall joined forces for the victory in 7:52:63
Lowell won the overall boys’ All-State title.
