Wellesley Police log for 5/27/19-6/1/19
While this was not included in the Wellesley Police log, news broke on June 3 that a Wellesley man who teaches music at a Whitman elementary school had been arrested by the Whitman Police Department. The 32-year-old man has been charged with 2 counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 following an investigation into alleged inappropriate conduct between the teacher and student. The suspect’s father has described the situation as a probable misunderstanding, according to a WCVB report on the arraignment.
Arrests
On May 28, 2019 at 7:15 p.m. Officer Mankavech and Officer Griffin served a warrant issued for a probation violation. Officers Mankavech and Griffin located the suspect at 106 Central Street. She was taken into custody, transported to the station, booked in the usual manner, afforded all rights and later released on personal recognizance.
On June 1, 2019 at 10:59 a.m. Officer Kane was dispatched to a bank on Washington Street for a report of a male party attempting to cash a forged check. The bank teller provided the Emergency Communications Center with a description of the male party as balding, 40-45 years of age, wearing a blue t-shirt with stars on it and jeans. The male party exited the bank prior to Officer Kane’s arrival. The bank teller indicated that the male party had begun walking eastbound on Washington Street. Officer Kane located the male party and spoke with him. He initially stated that he had gone to the ATM machine at the bank, but later admitted that a male party approached him at the Forest Hills Train Station and told him he could make some quick money by cashing a check for him he agreed to it. The bank teller contacted the company listed as the payee on the check and confirmed it was a forged check. They advised the suspect that he could not cash the check at which point he left the bank. He was taken into custody, transported to the station, booked in the usual manner, afforded all rights and held on $1,500 bail.
Incidents
On May 27, 2019 at 4:55 p.m. Officer Mankavech was dispatched to Morses Pond for report of child that was bitten by a dog. The report is incomplete at this time and no further information is available.
On May 28, 2019 at 6:19 p.m. Officer Mankavech spoke with a resident from Winding River Road about a fraud incident. The report is incomplete at this time and no further information is available.
On May 30, 2109 at 11:35 a.m. Officer J. Popovski spoke with an employee from the Wellesley Facilities Maintenance Department about damage to a motor vehicle. The employee stated that a lock was removed from a van. There was nothing in the van at the time.
On May 31, 2019 at 5:45 a.m. Officer DeBernardi was dispatched to a residence on Bacon Street for a report of vandalism to the residence. The reporting party showed Officer DeBernardi a window that had been broken. There was shattered glass on both the inside and outside of the window frame. Officer DeBernardi did not locate anything near the window that looked like it might have damaged it. There are no suspects.
On June 1, 2019 at 8:26 a.m. Officer DiCenso spoke with a resident about an instrument that was stolen from the high school. The report is incomplete at this time and no further information is available.
