Perhaps the just-concluded NCAA softball championship will inspire you. Or the fact that the Wellesley High softball team made the post-season but wasn’t eligible to host a home game because its field isn’t regulation size.
Whatever your motivation, the Wellesley Softball Field Improvement Committee could use your financial help to revamp the Lee and Hunnewell softball fields. They’re looking to provide girls with a safe, regulation-size field with dugouts, equipment storage and electricity to power pitching machines.
The project has unanimously been approved by the town committees and town meeting, with the Community Preservation Committee kicking in $500,000 and the town another $300K.
That leaves $250K to raise privately. The Wellesley Hills Junior Women’s Club is among those that have already stepped up to the plate with a big donation. Smith & Wollensky has contributed, too.
Donations are tax deductible, and you can contribute by check or online.
Donations over $500 will earn you a personalized brick. Gifts of $2,000-plus rate you a mention on a plaque.
