
Wellesley Police log for the weeks of 7/9/19-7/29/19
Arrests
On July 9, 2019 the Wellesley Police Department received a report indicating that an unknown male suspect may have taken inappropriate photographs of a minor child while using a shower at the Boston Sports Club on Great Plain Avenue in Wellesley. Wellesley Police Officers and Detectives from the Bureau of Criminal Investigation immediately began investigating the report. During the investigation, with the assistance of Boston Sports Club staff, the suspect was identified. On July 22, 2019 at approximately 9:00 AM, the Wellesley Police Department executed a search warrant at 196 Washington Street, Wellesley. Detectives from the Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council (MetroLEC) Computer Crime Unit and NORPAC assisted in serving the search warrant. As a result of the search warrant, a 60-year old man was arrested and charged at the scene with one count of secretly recording a child under the age of 18 in the nude or partially nude. This charge is a felony. The man was booked at the Wellesley Police Department and then transported to Dedham District Court. He was arraigned at Dedham District Court and bail was set at $2,500.
On July 17, 2019 Officer Wall was dispatched to the area of Weston Road for a report of a female party walking with no shoes who appeared to be distressed. Officer Wall located a female party on Weston Road who appeared intoxicated. The female party did not know where she was, did not have a phone or any money with her to make arrangements for a ride. She provided Officer Wall with the name and number of an individual who could pick her up, but Officer Wall was unable to get in contact with him. She was taken into protective custody and brought to the police station until Officer Wall was able to get in touch with a family member who took custody of the female party.
On July 20, 2019 at 4:35 a.m. Officer Knapp was on patrol on Worcester Street when he observed a sedan traveling greater than the posted 50 mph. He confirmed the vehicle was traveling 80 mph with a radar unit. He attempted to stop the vehicle on Worcester Street but it continued into Natick. Officer Knapp followed the vehicle into Natick where it made a sudden turn onto Centre Street, then Paul Street and then Manor Ave before coming to a stop. He asked the operator for his license and registration. He indicated that he usually travels straight on Route 9 to drive home. He was unable to provide an explanation as to why he turned onto Centre Street. He was taken into custody, transported to the station, booked in the usual manner, afforded all rights and held without bail. During the inventory of the vehicle a large amount of marijuana, scale, plastic bags and other items used for the sale of narcotics were located.

On July 21, 2019 at 6:50 p.m. Officer Griffin was on patrol and conducted a check of the Morses Pond parking lot. He conducted a query of pickup truck with an expired inspection sticker. He stopped the truck and spoke with the operator, and asked for his license and registration. A query of his information showed that his license was suspended. When
Officer Griffin stopped the pickup truck a box truck also stopped. Officer Griffin spoke with the operator of the box truck and requested his license and registration. A query of his information showed that his license was suspended. Both men were taken into custody, transported to the station, booked in the usual manner and afforded all rights. One was released on personal recognizance and the other was released on $500 bail.
On July 23, 2019 at 4:33 p.m. Officer DiCenso was dispatched to Church Street for a report of a female party yelling in a parking lot. Officer DiCenso located the female party on Washington Street and spoke with her. It was determined that there were two active warrants for her arrest issued by the Boston District Court and the Edgartown District Court. She was taken into custody, transported to the station, booked in the usual manner, afforded all rights and transported to Dedham District Court the following morning.
On July 24, 2019 at 3:10 p.m. Officers Shore and Harris were conducting traffic enforcement on Worcester Street near Arnold Road when they observed a red Honda sedan pass their location. Their attention was drawn to the Honda due to a very loud exhaust. The vehicle was stopped and they spoke with the operator whose right to operate in Massachusetts was suspended. He asked that the passenger take possession of the vehicle. A query of his information showed there was an active warrant issued for his arrest out of Great Barrington District Court. He was taken into custody, transported to the station, booked in the usual manner, afforded all rights and later released on $250 bail.
On July 25, 2019 at 10:55 a.m. Officer Lindelof was on patrol on Worcester Street near Cedar Street when he observed a Ford pickup truck and conducted a random query of the vehicle’s information. This query showed that the registered owner’s license was suspended. Officer Lindelof stopped the vehicle on Worcester Street near Arnold Road and spoke with the registered owner and operator. He was taken into custody, transported to the station, booked in the usual manner, afforded all rights and was later transported to the Dedham District Court.
On July 26, 2019 at 8:50 a.m. Officer Lindelof was on patrol on Worcester Street near Cliff Road when he observed a Ford van that did not have a valid inspection sticker. He stopped the vehicle and spoke with the operator. A query of his information showed that his right to operate a motor vehicle in Massachusetts was revoked. He was taken into custody, transported to the station, booked in the usual manner, afforded all rights and later transported to Dedham District Court.
On July 26, 2019 at 10:37 a.m. Officer Cunningham was on patrol on Washington Street near Cliff Road when he observed a motor vehicle with dark tinted windows. He stopped the vehicle and checked the window tint which revealed it was 11% which is below the state guideline. He asked the operator for her license and registration. The query showed that her license was suspended and that she has recently been stopped by the Wellesley Police Department and summonsed for operating with a suspended license. She was taken into custody, transported to the station, booked in the usual manner, afforded all rights and later transported to Dedham District Court.
On July 27, 2019 at 10:40 a.m. Officer Lindelof was on patrol on Worcester Street near Overbrook Drive when he observed a Ford SUV traveling in front of him which did not have a valid inspection sticker. He queried the registration which showed that the registration was revoked. He stopped the vehicle and spoke with the operator, and requested his license and registration. A query of his information showed that his license was suspended. He was taken into custody, transported to the station, booked in the usual manner, afforded all rights and later bailed.
July 27, 2019 at 11:25 a.m. Officer Mankavech was on patrol on Worcester Street near Lantern Lane when he observed a Honda sedan with an expired inspection sticker. He stopped the vehicle and spoke with the operator, and requested his license and registration. A query of his information showed that his license was suspended. He was taken into custody, transported to the station, booked in the usual manner, afforded all rights and later released on personal recognizance.
On July 27, 2019 at 11:49 a.m. Officer Cunningham was on patrol on Kingsbury Street near Linden Street when he observed a Ford pickup truck and conducted a random query of the vehicle’s registration. He stopped the vehicle on Linden Street and spoke with the operator, and requested his license and registration. A query of his information showed that his license was suspended. He was taken into custody, transported to the station, booked in the usual manner, afforded all rights and was later released on personal recognizance.
On July 29, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. Officer Lindelof was on patrol on Worcester Street near Weston Road when he observed a Nissan sedan without a front license plate. He stopped the vehicle and spoke with the operator, and requested his license and registration. A query of his information showed that his license was suspended and there was an active warrant for his arrest issued by the Westborough District Court. He was taken into custody, transported to the station, booked in the usual manner, afforded all rights and later bailed.
On July 29, 2019 at 6:35 p.m. Officer Wall was on patrol on Worcester Street when he observed an Infiniti sedan and conducted a random query of the vehicle’s registration. The query showed that the registered owner’s license was suspended and there was an active warrant issued by the Charlestown District Court. He stopped the vehicle and spoke with the owner and operator. He was taken into custody, transported to the station, booked in the usual manner, afforded all rights and was later released on personal recognizance.
Incidents
On July 22, 2019 at 5:20 p.m. Officer Pino was dispatched to Cedar Street for a report of a fire in a wooded area. They encountered 4 youths that were cooking hot dogs in a fire pit in the wooded area. They were instructed to extinguish the fire. The Wellesley Fire Department fully extinguished the fire.
On July 22, 2019 at 8:27 p.m. Officer DiCenso was dispatched to a residence on Washington Street for a report of vandalism to an air conditioning unit. The reporting party felt that another tenant had damaged the unit. The other tenant was not home at the time. At approximately 9:06 p.m. Officer Dixon was dispatched to the same location to speak with another reporting party who stated that another tenant had entered her room without her permission and removed items from her room. It appears this is an ongoing dispute between two tenants. They were both advised to avoid contact with each other to avoid future conflict.
On July 23, 2019 at 11:56 a.m. Officer Hughes was dispatched to a store on Linden Street for a stolen wallet. The report is incomplete at this time and no further information is available.
On July 24, 2019 at 11:32 a.m. Officer J. Popovski spoke with a male reporting party who stated that his cellular account had been compromised at the beginning of the month. He received an invoice on July 24th for $537.60 worth of charges he did not make. He contacted Verizon’s fraud department who refused to provide the reporting party or Officer Popovski with the information needed to investigate the matter. The reporting party also stated that his son’s information had been used to open a Best Buy Credit Card and there were several purchases made in Worcester and Hartsdale, New York. There are no suspects at this time.
On July 24, 2019 at 12:10 p.m. Officer Shore spoke with a male reporting party who stated had learned from his employer that an unemployment claim was submitted using his personal information. He contacted the Department of Unemployment Assistance and learned that a claim was filed on July 9th and one check for benefits had been mailed, but the employee would not provide any further information. He was advised to file a police report with his local police department so they could further investigate the matter.
On July 15, 2019 at 2:41 p.m. Officer Poirier was notified by a staff member at the Wellesley Middle School that there was some recent graffiti and trash found near the ropes challenges course. There was graffiti on both sides of the 12 foot wall that is part of the adventure course. The graffiti will likely have to be painted over. There are no suspects and officers will make extra checks of the area.
On July 15, 2019 at 1:24 p.m. Officer J. Popovski and Detective D’Innocenzo were dispatched to a residence on Lowell Road for a report of a past breaking and entering. There was forced entry through a door to gain access to the house. Many areas of the home had been rummaged through. Detective D’Innocenzo processed the scene. The incident is under investigation.
On July 15, 2019 at 1:33 p.m. officers were dispatched to Lake Waban for a report of a women in distress in the lake. Responding officers learned that the woman had a dog that chased some birds onto the water and she was attempting to get her dog, but was not in distress.
On July 16, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. Officer Hughes spoke to a female reporting party who stated her luggage was lost or stolen somewhere between Logan Airport and Fort Lauderdale. She reported her iPad was in the luggage. No further information is available at this time.
On July 18, 2019 at 7:09 p.m. Officer Wall spoke with a female party regarding identity theft. She reported that she received notification from LifeLock that a bank account was opened using her personal information. She was advised by LifeLock that she needed to file a report with her local police department. There are no suspects at this time.
On July 19, 2019 at 8:00 a.m. Officer Dennehy spoke with a male reporting party who stated his debit card had been compromised and two transactions had occurred in Connecticut on July 15th and 16th. He still had possession of his debit card. His bank will refund him the lost funds. There are no suspects at this time.
On July 20, 2019 at 11:57 p.m. Officer Kane spoke to a female reporting party who stated the diamond fell out of her engagement ring the previous day between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. She had been to multiple locations in Wellesley during that time frame and is following up with each store and location to see if the diamond was found.
On July 20, 2019 at 11:36 a.m. Officer Mankavech was dispatched to a residence on Cliff Road for a report of a past breaking and entering. There were multiple rooms in the house that had been rummaged through and items were taken. Detective Connelly responded and processed the scene. There did not appear to be any forced entry into the residence. The incident is under investigation.
On July 21, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. Officer DeBernardi was dispatched to a residence on Cliff Road for a possible past attempt to break into the residence. The homeowner stated that they had received a call from their alarm company at 11:30 a.m. that day for an alarm activation. Upon looking at the window where the alarm signal came from it appears someone had attempted to pry it open. It does not appear anyone gained access to the residence and nothing was taken. There are no suspects at this time.
