School opened today in Wellesley on a morning that just barely suggested fall, with temperatures in the high 60s. Kids, parents and caregivers, younger siblings, and faithful dogs all converged outside of Wellesley’s seven elementary schools, the Kingbury Street middle school and the Rice Street high school to get the first of 180 academic days into the record books.

All too soon it was time for the kids to wave goodbye to their fan base, and summer itself. Some skipped into school, some dragged their feet, and some shed a few tears (kids and parents on that last one). Just another first day of school in Wellesley.
Welcome back, everybody. It’s been quiet in Wellesley without the whole crew in town.
First day off: Monday, September 2, in observance of Labor Day.
