The Village Market, the tidy convenience store in Wellesley lower falls that has sat between Jin’s Fine Asian Cuisine and North End Pizza for years, is now closed. Village Market opened in 2009, and has changed hands at least once since.
We understand from a Swellesley reader that the owner has another shop in Auburndale, so that’s good to hear.
No doubt the arrival of CVS in 2012 and its expanded food section later on made competing difficult for the smaller store.
Village Market had its fair share of excitement over the years, including the sale of a lottery ticket good for $100,000 back in 2012.

The elimination of parking spaces with the expanded sidewalks hurt the business, as did CVS.
The original long time owner saw this coming and sold out and changed careers at the right time.
I wish someone with money see the potential to open more grocery stores right in Lower Falls or by CVS; I see a lot of people buying at CVS because there is no other store close available..Wellesley Farms needs its own supermarket; more restaurants anda nice gift shop; big bakery and flower shop.
