For the 4th straight year, Wellesley has been awarded a grant from the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection in recognition of its recycling and waste reduction efforts. Wellesley snagged $11,700 out of about $3 million awarded by the state to 262 communities under its Sustainable Materials Recovery Program.
The state has a major crush on Wellesley’s revenue-generating Recycling & Disposal Facility and other sustainability efforts, having recognized it for other awards in the past.
Wellesley RDF’s Jamie Manzolini says the award can be used for a broad range of things and the RDF is developing a list of possibilities. Enhancing the Food Waste Drop-off program and developing new programs are among priorities.

We know we all love our town’s RDF but somehow they run a different schedule than the townspeople?! There were five cars being left out at 11:55am on Monday when the sign says it closes at noon. And the guy gladly yelled at us saying our clocks were wrong!?
When I left the scene I gladly responded back “I appreciate you wanting to get off work early, but all our clocks are not wrong.”
How should this be addressed in the future?
