Time to get rid of (er, share) all that Halloween candy, Wellesley

November 5, 2019 by Deborah Brown 1 Comment

Wellesley Dental Group, Candy Drive

Drs. Ali and Ali of Wellesley Dental Group are inviting the public to join them at the press event for the The event will display all the candy collected within the Metrowest area of Boston, which will be donated to troops deployed overseas. Over 40 schools and organizations participated for last yearsโ€™ Candy Drive, collecting over 12,000 pounds of candy. Wellesley Dental Groupโ€™s goal is to inspire the spirit of giving in kids by encouraging them to share their extra Halloween candy with our troops overseas. These sweet treats and handwritten cards are a reminder of home for these soldiers and a reflection of gratitude. The packages will be sent via CarePacks, a local non-profit organization, along with oral hygiene supplies.

I stopped in at the Seaward Rd. office to drop off my candy the day after Halloween. Hereโ€™s what the donation bin in the lobby looked like at that time:

Last year from similar humble beginnings, that pile of sugar grew to look more like this:
