Wellesley police respond to restaurant fight involving knife, punches

On Saturday, Sept. 14 at 5:30pm the Wellesley Police Department received a call regarding an employee at the Sweetgreen restaurant in Linden Square who had allegedly cut two coworkers with a knife.

The male employee, a 33-year-old from Randolph, had a disagreement with a coworker. The coworker allegedly struck him in the head twice. The employee who was struck was cutting produce with a knife. He allegedly cut the male coworker who struck him. Another coworker attempted to de-escalate the situation and their arm was cut with the knife.

The employee with the knife was taken into custody for 2 counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. He was transported to the station, booked in the usual manner, afforded all rights, and bail was set at $5,000. He will be arraigned at Dedham District Court Monday. Both coworkers were transported to the hospital for evaluation of their minor cuts. The coworker who struck the employee in the head will be summonsed to Dedham District Court for assault and battery.
