Wellesley Recreation Commission vows to have in-person pickleball discussion

Following technical difficulties with an online Recreation Commission hearing to discuss the latest on a concept for putting pickleball courts at the the Morses Pond parking lot, the Commission vowed it will schedule an in-person meeting to ensure the public can have its say on the matter.

We earlier posted a notification that the Sept. 30 meeting would take place and provided background on the town’s efforts to balance the needs of neighbors and pickleball enthusiasts.

Consultants hired by the town to conduct feasibility and design studies regarding possible pickleball locations in town shared a presentation during the online meeting. They outlined stormwater management, sound mitigation, and other issues relevant to possible courts at Morses Pond. The presentation and earlier documents can be found on the town’s website.

Not all members of the public who wanted to attend the meeting could get online. But a handful of those who did raised concerns about traffic, environmental impact, and the meeting’s technical issues.

A recording of the Sept. 30 meeting has been posted on Wellesley Media.
