Wellesley’s Nantucket Road has become a giant inflatable pumpkin patch

It might be time to alert the state fair: Enormous pumpkins are popping up on Wellesley’s Nantucket Road.

Nantucket Road pumpkins

OK, they’re inflatable, but still, they look to be about 10-feet high and there were five by my count when I stopped by on Wednesday morning after being tipped off (thanks BSW). Since then, a sixth has ballooned, we’re told.

Between this puffy patch and the endless pumpkin patch at Wellesley Hills Church, the town is truly blessed.

The most impressive holiday inflatables display in town since the Great Santa Assembly of 2023?

I hadn’t come across this much hot air in Wellesley since… (I better stop there).

Check out the video below. Orange you glad I swung by?

Coincidentally, as I was writing this post, I received email from a Nantucket Road resident who shared some of the backstory:

“My kids always ask for the blow-up yard decorations. I’ve never been a big fan of those. But my 9th grade daughter was having a big Halloween party this past weekend. So reluctantly we agreed and got a massive glowing inflatable pumpkin. Well, when the little boy across the street saw it, his face lit up and he was in awe. So the next day, sure enough, there was the exact same one in his yard. The cuteness and spirit was infectious, and throughout the week more and more went up on our street. Today, the 6th one was inflated. It’s not a super long street, so it is hilarious!!! I’m hoping the last few houses get one up by tomorrow.”

While the small street in the Bates Elementary School district typically doesn’t get many trick-or-treaters, the resident says: “I think that may change this year! Happy Halloween!”
