Wellesley Public Schools have Friday, Nov. 1 off to recognize Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights. Whether that holiday remains an official day off on the academic calendar next school year remains to be seen, though the Academic Calendar Task Force has recommended against it (more discussion on the calendar will take place at upcoming School Committee meetings).
In addition to family and friends enjoying Diwali this week, the Wellesley South Asian Association will be hosting its annual celebration on Nov. 16, from 6-9pm at Village Church (2 Central St.)
