Raiders wrestlers won four of the first six matches, with big victories from Daichi Lawrence (113 lb weigh class)  Will Nixon (120), Dominic Staunton (126) and Daniel Woods (144). The Warriors flipped the script midway through the meet with four straight match wins, including two by their captains, to trim Wellesley’s lead to five points.

But the Raiders (or Monks) closed out the match with three straight wins at the upper weights. Charlie McCormack (190) dominated his opponent on points, Brandon Hollingsworth (215) went into “beast mode” (per one vocal fan who may have been related…) to win a back-and-forth match, and then Captain Oliver Knight (285) took all of 30 seconds to dispatch his opponent.

The Wellesley High wrestling team improves to 8-6 and travels on Saturday to take on Mt. Anthony from Vermont, Windham, NH, Lowell and Springfield Central at the Springfield Duel Festival.
