The Levitate Music & Arts Festival, slated for July 12-13 in Marshfield, has announced a line-up featuring returning favorites, rising stars, and local newcomers. The festival is located about an hour away from Wellesley.

Tickets go on sale this Friday, Feb. 21. One percent of each ticket sold will be contributed to the non-profit Levitate Foundation, which supports the arts in local communities.

This is a feel-good, eco-friendly festival launched in 2013 by the Levitate surf and skate fashion brand, and typically features a mix of jam, roots, reggae, blues, and pop music.

In addition to the music, Levitate features dozens of arts and craft stalls, live mural painting and skateboarding, and a wide variety of food. Patrons can bring in folding chairs to give their dancing feet a break during possibly hot weather on the Marshfield Fairgrounds. Headliners this time around include Stick Figure, the Revivalists, and Dispatch (we interviewed Dispatch members last year and reviewed one of their Boston shows). Also on the bill are Levitate newcomers Thundercat, Protoje, and Still Woozy, along with Levitate favorites such as the Elovators, Ripe, and Mahali.

The return of Stick Figure and The Elovators is celebrated by Levitate, as these are South Shore hometown bands that have made it big. Stick Figure played the first year of the Festival, and then for 10 years straight, including a headliner set n 2023. They’re coming off a sold-out national tour in 2024 to return as a headliner at Levitate this year.

We asked about how the line-up is actually selected, and were told that there’s an internal talent buying team that takes lots of opinions from friends, family, and staff. They also take input from fans about who they want to see.
