Sullivans commit $1.6M to support palliative care

Steve and Rebecca Sullivan of Wellesley have made a $1.6 million commitment to support palliative care at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. This adds to their $1.5M gift in 2021 to endow the chief of palliative care position.

The new gift will allow for a palliative care nurse navigator position within the hospital, and should be particularly beneficial within the emergency department.

Palliative care is provided by a team of doctors, nurses, social workers, chaplains and trained specialists. Their focus is on providing comfort and improved quality of life for patients and their families.

Wellesley College’s student-run cooperative café, located in the lower depths of Founders Hall, is up for scholarship and prize packages through Zipcar’s “Students with Drive” campaign (the public can vote for projects through March 5).

El Table serves tea and coffee, and soups and sandwiches in a setting featuring small tables and student-made murals. El Table‘s mission includes offering “an intentional community for students of underrepresented identities.”
