Familiar face in Wheelock Family Theatre show
Longtime Wellesley resident Livia Ketri plays the lead character (Flora) in The Wheelock Family Theatre’s current production of Flora & Ulysses, which runs through March 9.
Ketri has performed locally at Wellesley Theater Project, Walnut Hill School for the Arts, and other schools.
Wellesley Free Library art exhibits
James E. Mahoney Foyer—“Shelter, abstracted,” featuring the art of Andrew Mowbray, Meg Alexander, and Emily Hass. The artists use geometric forms to explore the fragility and resilience of architecture.
Wakelin Room—Painter Cristina Farrèr enjoys exploring new techniques. She works in acrylics on a variety of canvas sizes. She enjoys laying paint using everything from brushes to fingers, bubble wrap to spatulas. Each painting involves a complex layering process. Flowers are her constant theme of choice.
Lucky U Display Case—”Aesop’s Fables,” by Nancy Schön, a Boston-based sculptor, celebrated for her warm and evocative representation of human and animal figures. She is best known for her iconic Make Way for Ducklings sculpture in the Boston Public Garden.
The exhibitions will be on view throughout February.
Plugged In presents the 2nd Annual Dirty Water Music Festival
On Saturday, April 5 (6:30-10pm), the 2nd Annual Dirty Water Music Festival at Needham’s Town Hall. The event will feature four live Boston-based bands, dancing, sandwiches, desserts and a cash bar. The event is organized by Needham’s Plugged In Band Program, which last year awarded $70,722.00 in scholarships to support students in band class, private lessons, and summer camp. Bands include Mass Bluesbreakers, Monkey with Crayons, Off Label, and Bored of Directors.
Tickets cost $10.
