‘Chicken’ the dog located by Wellesley police, available for adoption
From the Wellesley Police Department:

On Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. Officer Tana DiCenso responded to a call for a found dog. The dog was located tethered to a fire hydrant and the reporting party stated the dog had been wandering around the area that morning. She said she had seen the dog in the area for the past few days and relayed that another individual had told her that the dog was seen in a nearby park last Thursday.
The dog appeared to have been outside in the cold weather for an extended period of time. The dog was brought to a veterinarian for an evaluation. The veterinarian relayed that the dog is an American Pitbull Terrier and appears to be a juvenile (6 months to 2 years of age). The veterinarian completed an evaluation, and it was confirmed that the dog had some abrasions and other skin irritations. He was scanned for a microchip, but none was found.
The dog has been nicknamed “Chicken” by Officer DiCenso who has been assisting Animal Control Officer Jenny Smith with finding a shelter placement for the dog. Chicken is an extremely friendly dog with a happy temperament. Where his vaccination status is unknown, he will be held on a state mandated 7-day stray dog hold by ACO Smith.
Officer DiCenso immediately began looking for a more permanent shelter/rescue for Chicken once his 7-day hold is through. She was able to connect with Katie Eaton who is an adoption counselor at PittieLove Rescue. PittieLove Rescue is a volunteer and foster-based rescue organization dedicated to the care and adoption of Pitbull-type dogs. Eaton has conducted a behavioral evaluation to assess Chicken’s potential for adoptability and found him to be smart and friendly. The Wellesley Police Department will work with PittieLove Rescue to find Chicken a good home.
