Wellesley’s Mitchell in Weston Friendly Society’s production of Into the Woods
Weston Friendly Society’s spring musical, Stephen Sondheim’s Into the Woods, will feature Wellesley resident Alex Mitchell as Jack.
Into the Woods will be performed at the Weston Town Hall on April 5, 6, 11 and 12. There are 7:30 p.m. performances on April 5, 11 and 12 and 2 p.m. matinees on April 6 and 12. Tickets are on sale at www.westonfriendly.org. Reserved seats are available for $28 for adults and $25 for seniors and students. For more information, email westonfriendlysociety@gmail.com.
The plot is centered around a baker and his wife and their wish for a child and imagines what might happen if Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella and others crossed paths with one another in the woods.
Formed in 1885, the Weston Friendly Society is the second oldest theatre group in the United States.

Author Event: An Evening with Poets Lynne Viti, Heather Treseler, and Lloyd Schwartz
Wellesley Books (82 Central St.) on April 3 a5 7pm welcomes poets Lynne Viti, Heather Treseler, and Lloyd Schwartz to discuss their collections.
Viti is the inaugural Poet Laureate of Westwood, Mass., and a lecturer emerita in Wellesley College’s writing program. Treseler is the author of Auguries & Divinations, which received a couple of significant awards. Schwartz is the poet laureate of Somerville, the Frederick S. Troy Professor of English Emeritus at the University of Massachusetts Boston, and a longtime arts critic for NPR’s Fresh Air.
This is a ticketed event ($5). Buy tickets online (fees apply) or by calling 781-431-1160 during store hours (no fees). The ticket price will be applied to purchases of the poets’ books at the event.
