Wellesley business buzz: Taylor Rental on the move after 41 years; Sugaring NYC headed to Church Square; Spring Seasonings sounds tasty

March 18, 2025 by Bob Brown

The latest Wellesley, Mass., business news:

Taylor Rental on the move after 41 years

Taylor True Value Rental, which has been loaning everything from party tents to inflatables to intimidating yard equipment since 1984, is packing up soon and moving to 51 Fremont St. in Needham. The business, which also fills propane tanks, is currently located at 26 Washington St., near the Papa Razzi restaurant.

Owners George and Nanette LaRochelle earlier this year received the Needham Zoning Board of Appeals OK for a special permit allowing their operation in the 7,500 sq. ft. building with less than the number of parking spaces typically required. The Board of Appeals recap describes the applicants desire for this space as a more efficient building layout and for its proximity to Rte. 128 (we reached out to Taylor Rental for further comment but haven’t heard back as of this posting). A social media post by one of the owners indicated a mid-April move being planned.

Sugaring NYC headed to Church Square

Plans are in the works for a business called Sugaring NYC to move into 24 Church Square, most recently home to pop-up Gray Heron.

Sugaring NYC might sound like a chocolate or candy shop, but it’s actually an organic hair removal business. “Once you try Sugaring, we bet you never go back to waxing,” the business teases on its website.

Also: “Treat your bikini area the same as you would treat your face.” Oh my.

The term “sugaring” refers to the ingredients used by the business for its chemical-free hair removal process. “Unlike traditional waxing, which uses hot wax that can cause burns and skin irritation, sugaring employs a gentle paste made from organic sugar, lemon, and water. This method is not only gentle to the skin and less painful, it also helps reduce the growth of unwanted hair over time with regular treatments,” the owners say.

Sugaring NYC has more than 135 locations across the country, and the owners of the Wellesley shop also run one in Boston.

“We believe the savvy and discerning residents of Wellesley will truly appreciate the high-quality, organic ingredients we use to offer a superior salon experience,” the owners say.

The hope by the owners is to open in May.
