‘No Kings Day’ rally held in front of Wellesley Town Hall

The Boston Marathon crowd wasn’t the only gathering over the past few days on the Wellesley Town Hall green: A No Kings Day rally to protest actions by the federal administration took place on Saturday morning and drew dozens of sign holders.

No Kings Day marks the 250th anniversary of the start of the American Revolution and rallies were held across the country.

Protests have been popping up frequently in Wellesley this spring, including a series of All Politics is Local rallies ahead of recent Annual Town Meeting sessions at the middle school.

On Friday night, UU Wellesley Hills took part in the Let Freedom Ring initiative, which drew nearly 50 participants.  The ceremony involved reading the 27 grievances in the Declaration of Independence, followed by the joyful sound of the church tower bell tolling 27 times to celebrate liberty and justice for all. Bells could also be heard in Wellesley Square.
