Wellesley this weekend opened three new outdoor pickleball courts installed by the Department of Public Works on the lower parking lot at MassBay Community College on Oakland Street.

We’ve reached out to the Recreation Department on plans for usage rules. They will initially be available on a first-come, first-served basis as this pilot program gets underway. See the Wellesley Recreation court page for updates on reservations, etc.

Wellesley has been eliminating pickleball at some outside courts, such as Sprague, out of respect to neighbors.

Wellesley Town Meeting recently voted on a plan to revamp the Hunnewell tennis courts on Washington Street so that courts seven and eight will be lined for two pickleball courts apiece and will be available before and after high school tennis season (a pickleball court will also be made available on the surface used for the hitting wall). Construction on the Hunnewell courts is expected to take place over the summer.
