Business buzz: Pattee’s opens in Wellesley Hills; Try Longfellow Wellesley for free; Teens pressure washing trash cans

May 20, 2025 by Deborah Brown

The latest Wellesley, Mass., business news:

Pattee’s opens in Wellesley Hills

Wellesley resident, silversmith and textiles up-cycler Pattee Silver has moved her much-loved shop to 203 Washington St. in Wellesley Hills, near Maugus Diner. We stopped in and found what Pattee is famous for—one-of-a-kind clothing and jewelry that she creates from fabrics and baubles found at Brimfield Antiques and other unique shopping haunts. Think embellished hats; applique jackets; floral-embroidered shirts, and so much more.

The cozy interior has the feel of a custom atelier where Pattee curates not only the racks, but the entire shopping experience.

“For someone like me who makes everything in the shop [except for some accessories, like hair clips], this new location is  something different. I started sewing at 60, and I like to encourage people who think they can’t do it because they’re too old to start. It’s not true. Do it!,” Pattee enthused.

The expert seamstress still takes sewing classes in New Hampshire and says she’s always learning.

If sewing isn’t your thing, but dressing creatively in original handmade pieces is, let Pattee help you out with that.
