Business buzz: Modern Home Help aims to ‘supercharge’ home owner-handy person relationships; Chamber seeks Wellesley Night location

July 7, 2025 by Bob Brown

The latest Wellesley, Mass., business news:

Modern Home Help aims to ‘supercharge’ home owner-handy person relationships

Modern Home HelpA new business called Modern Home Help has evolved from the former Wellesley Home Hero startup we wrote about a year ago that focused on simplifying the sometimes challenging process of finding people to handle home projects large or small.

Adam Stober co-founded Wellesley Home Hero and now is part of the early Modern Home Help team, which also includes venture backing and additional technical expertise. Stober said lessons were learned from the earlier business that have helped to inform the new company’s focus. Helping people find a provider for this or that job was just one piece of the puzzle, he says, whereas Modern Home Help is offering a pre-paid yearly subscription service ($3,300—that’s $79 per service hour) that includes twice-monthly visits from your dedicated handy person to handle tasks that you list (hang pictures, fix leaky pipes, fix wonky drawers, etc.) and offer preventative maintenance services.

“A core insight from our earlier experience is that people want help from a good handy person more often than they realize,” said Stober, who described Modern Home Help’s role as being to “supercharge the relationship” between homeowners and service providers.

If jobs are too big for a handy person, Modern Home Help will facilitate referrals from a network of vetted providers.

The subscription service includes a mobile app to manage your to-do list, request services, and more.

You can book a free walk-thru to see what Modern Home Help is all about. The service is available in Wellesley and nearby communities.
