Weather Outlook: July 10 to July 18
A bit of a weather rollercoaster sets up across the area this week. The forecast begins with clouds, fog, and locally heavy downpours as a slow-moving front lingers nearby. Conditions gradually improve by the weekend, with dry weather, brightening skies, and seasonable warmth. Then, from Monday through midweek, summer arrives in full force. A southwest flow brings rising temperatures and muggy air, with highs soaring into the upper 80s and low 90s. A few scattered afternoon thunderstorms are possible, but most days will be dominated by heat, humidity, and hazy sunshine.
Thursday, July 10 – Damp, humid, and potentially soaking
A slow-moving front hangs over southern New England, keeping skies cloudy and the air sticky. Showers and embedded downpours are likely, especially late morning into early afternoon. The Weather Prediction Center has placed the region in a marginal risk for excessive rainfall. Localized flooding in poor drainage areas is something to watch for.

• Sky: Cloudy with patchy fog and periods of showers or heavy rain

Friday, July 11 – Slow clearing, slightly warmer
Morning clouds and fog will give way to partial sunshine, especially inland. A welcome step toward more pleasant summer weather, with comfortable temps and only modest humidity.
• High: 80 to 82°F | Low: 65 to 67°F | Wind: ESE at 4 to 6 mph
• Sky: Mostly cloudy early, turning partly sunny

Saturday, July 12 – Fog early, then classic summer
Morning fog gives way to a mix of sun and clouds by midday. High pressure keeps conditions dry, with temps in the low 80s and manageable humidity.

Sunday, July 13 – Warmer and more humid
South winds return, sending temperatures upward and pushing humidity back into the “muggy” zone. Sun, haze, and a few high clouds dominate the sky. A pop-up inland storm is possible, but most areas stay dry.

Monday, July 14 – Hot and humid with a storm chance
Southwest winds bring a noticeable jump in heat and humidity. Highs rise into the upper 80s, and a weak disturbance may trigger a few scattered afternoon thunderstorms—mainly inland. While no organized severe threat is expected, some uncertainty remains.

The heat ramps up further as southwest flow continues. Forecast guidance shows a 40–50% chance of temperatures exceeding 90°F, with oppressive humidity making it feel even hotter. A stray afternoon thunderstorm is possible, but most areas stay dry.

Wednesday, July 16 – More heat, more haze
The hot and humid pattern holds strong. Temperatures again flirt with 90°F, and the chance of a spot thunderstorm returns during peak heating. While wind shear remains weak, a pulse storm or two can’t be ruled out.

Thursday, July 17 – Slight break from the heat
