Wellesley Youth Commission seeks sponsors for backpack drive
Nonprofit Kids Backing Kids is transitioning its annual Back-to-School Drive to the Wellesley Youth Commission. Youth Director Maura Renzella and her team of youth volunteers seek sponsors to help fill 75 backpacks for kids in need—they’ve got about 50 to go.
Over the last five years, Kids Backing Kids has delivered over 1,250 back-to-school backpacks filled with supplies.
Shop for a new backpack and new school supplies using a Wellesley Public School supply list to ensure every student has what they need on the first day of the new school year. The cost per student for each supply-filled backpack is estimated to be around $75-$150. When you’re done shopping, you can deliver the backpack to Maura Renzella at the Wellesley Housing Authority located at 107 Barton Rd. by Aug. 13.
