Rachel Lopes DeRoche, a longtime Wellesley finance employee who left in 2022 to move across the country, is now back as the town’s chief financial officer.
Tiana Moreau has been serving as acting finance director since the departure of CFO Michael DiPietro earlier this year after being hired the previous spring. DiPietro had succeeded Sheryl Strother, who retired as Wellesley’s CFO in January of 2024 after 18 years in town.
DeRoche started with the town in 2010 as a finance and budget analyst, later served as retirement board administrator and assistant finance director, and then served as treasurer/collector from the end of 2020 until the start of 2022.
“She, outside of being the finance director, has assumed just about every leadership role in the finance department for the town of Wellesley,” Jop said.
The Select Board this week ratified a roughly 3-year contract for DeRoche for $183,000 a year.
