Wellesley business buzz: First Citizens Bank headed to former Taylor Rental space; Holiday gift guide partners sought

October 27, 2025 by Bob Brown

The latest Wellesley MA business news:

First Citizens Bank headed to former Taylor Rental space

First Citizens Bank plans to open a consumer, wealth, and business branch at 26 Washington St. in Wellesley Lower Falls, with completion expected in 2028. This is the space Taylor Rental occupied for 41 years before heading to Needham.

First Citizens (not to be confused with Citizens Bank, also in town) already has a location at 336 Washington St., but won’t once the new project is finished. The branch at 336 Washington St. opened in the aftermath of the Silicon Valley Bank collapse in 2023.

Overall, First Citizens has five branches in the greater Boston area.

The Boston Globe reports (subscription required) that the bank’s parent company, based in Raleigh, NC, could wind up investing $15m in the planned 15,000 sq. ft. Wellesley project.
