On July 28, 2025, at 7:19 p.m. an officer spoke with a male reporting party regarding fraudulent checks he had received. He indicated he had been retained by a client to assist with mediation of a dispute. The payment received was in the form of a fraudulent check. His bank indicated they would refund the lost monies to his account. The incident is under investigation.
On July 28, 2025, at 7:39 p.m. an officer spoke to a female reporting party who wished to report her vehicle stolen. The reporting party stated that she believed her daughter’s boyfriend had taken the car without her authority. The officer inquired if her daughter is authorized to use the vehicle and the reporting party indicated she was, but she was unable to get in touch with her to determine if she had the vehicle. She was advised to attempt further to contact her daughter to determine if she had the vehicle and if she was driving the vehicle.
On July 29, 2205, at 9:42 a.m. an officer spoke with a male reporting party regarding fraud. The male party stated an unknown individual opened a PayPal account using his personal information in April 2025. He stated he contacted his bank and had the charges reversed and later received a collection letter from PayPal for the charges. The incident is under investigation.
On July 29, 2205, at 10:32 p.m. an officer spoke with a male reporting party regarding being struck by a scooter earlier in the day. The reporting party stated that while walking to the Wellesley Square train station around 10:20 a.m. a male party on scooter intentionally rode his scooter into him. He said he was struck so hard he dropped his coffee, and the male party did not stop and he smiled and grinned at him. He was advised to contact the police department if this sort of thing happens again.
On August 1, 2025, at 7:22 p.m. an officer spoke to a female reporting party regarding an online scam. The reporting party purchased a kitten online and paid $1,900 via Cash-App for the kitten that she had arranged for a pet transporter to pick up the kitten from the seller in Michigan and they did not show up. When she tried to contact the seller, the number was no longer functioning. The officer attempted to call the number as well without success and contacted the local police department in Michigan and was advised that there was nobody by the name of the seller at the address they provided.

On August 4, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. an officer spoke to a female reporting party regarding items stolen from their apartment. The female party indicated that a TV, headphones, videos games and other miscellaneous items had been taken from the apartment. The reporting party indicated that she believed a family member had taken them. The officer spoke with another family member who stated the items were taken because the reporting party had an item that belonged to the other family member that she refused to return.
On August 5, 2025, at 9:50 a.m. an officer spoke with a male reporting party who stated his wallet was stolen the previous morning while he was at team practice. He stated the practice began on the athletic field and he placed his phone with the magnetic wallet attached down on a bench and then the practice transitioned inside the high school gym and when practice was over the magnetic portion was no longer attached to his wallet. He had looked on the field, checked the gym and asked teammates if they had found the wallet. He had already cancelled his credit card and was advised to monitor his credit and to report any fraudulent charges.
On August 5, 2025, at 10:33 a.m. an officer spoke with a female reporting party who stated she had mailed a check for $250.00 by placing it in a blue mailbox near Eaton Court. She recently checked her bank account and noticed the check payee and amount had been altered to $9,500 and was cashed on July 18th. She notified her bank of the fraud and they refunded the funds to her account and opened an investigation.
On August 6, 2025, at 4:36 p.m. an officer spoke with a male reporting party regarding a possible stolen wedding band. The reporting party stated that the $12,000 3 karat band was discovered missing on March 1, 2024. He indicated that he had talked to the cleaning company he had at the time, and they would not identify the cleaners that had most recently been at his house. He had filed a claim with his insurance company and was advised a police report was needed as part of the claim process.
On August 8, 2025, at 3:15 p.m. an officer spoke with a female party who stated while walking she encountered some youths on electric bikes and when she advised them, they should not be riding where they were riding, they sped up and drove their bikes at her. The reporting party was advised that the town is working on addressing the issue and extra checks are being made of areas where they ride the electric bikes.
On August 8, 2025, at 5:40 p.m. an officer spoke with a reporting party regarding credit card fraud. The reporting party had lost their wallet on the MBTA Commuter Rail on August 5th and the reporting party cancelled the credit cards but forgot about one of the cards in the wallet. He later learned of several fraudulent charges being made. The officer investigated the fraudulent charges and was able to identify two suspects who will be summonsed to Dedham District Court for Credit Card Fraud Under $1,200, Identity Fraud, Conspiracy and Receiving Stolen Property Under $1,200.
On August 12, 2025, ACO Smith was notified via email that a dog had bitten a child, and they wanted information on how to surrender the dog. The dog owner advised ACO Smith that he believed the dog may have been previously abused and he was concerned about the safety of his child around the dog. ACO Smith provided him with information from the MASPCA and the Animal Rescue League of Boston for options on surrendering the dog.
On August 12, 2025, at 12:40 p.m. an officer was dispatched to Morses Pond for a report of youths riding e-bikes on the beach. The youths were waiting for the officers and indicated that they were not riding on the beach but rather riding on the path behind the beach to travel to the playground area. They asked what they should do when they encounter people yelling at them when they aren’t doing anything wrong. The officer spoke with the youths about the safety complaints the police have received and they indicated they understood they need to be respectful when riding the E-Bikes.
On August 13, 2025, at 12:24 p.m. an officer was dispatched to a medical building for a patient that had threatened an employee. The patient had left the practice prior to officers arriving. The officer spoke with the reporting party who stated the patient became agitated when she was on the phone helping another patient and when she concluded that call and advised him that they were only seeing pediatric patients on that day he became more agitated and banged his hand on the counter. She went into another room and locked the door, and he banged on the door and stated if he saw her again, he would hit her. The officer advised the reporting party to speak with their supervisor about whether they wished to issue a letter of no trespass against the patient. The officer attempted to contact the patient over the phone several times without an answer.
On August 15, 2025, at 2:40 p.m. an officer spoke to a reporting party regarding fraud. The reporting party was attempting to utilize an old tablet that hadn’t been used in quite some time. She Googled Microsoft Support and called a number she believed to be a legitimate number but was a fraudulent number. The individual could not assist her and provided another number for her to call. That individual instructed her to withdraw $8,000 from the bank and to purchase Lululemon and Apple Gift cards. The cashier at CVS advised her it was a scam and would only let her purchase one $500 Lululemon gift card and recommended that she speak in person with her bank. The reporting party went to the bank, and they confirmed it was a scam. The reporting party did not provide the Lululemon gift card information to the scammer and did not suffer any financial loss.
On August 16, 2025, at 6:45 p.m. officers were dispatched to a retail store on Central Street for a report of a shoplifting in progress. The store employees stated a male party approximately 5’6” to 5’8” entered the store and stolen an arm full of both male and female clothing. The male party fled on foot eastbound on Central Street. The reporting party stated just prior to the male party entering the store 3 other individuals returned merchandise that they did not have receipts for and may have been involved with the theft. On August 17, 2025, an officer was dispatched to the same store for a female party attempting to return items without a receipt that the store employee believed was involved in the theft the previous day. The officer spoke with the individual who presented an ID from Wisconsin and indicated they were in the area for a family gathering. The officer observed the female party enter a Honda SUV. The incident is under investigation.
On August 17, 2025, at 8:50 p.m. an officer spoke with an officer from a college in Boston who indicated they were provided with a photo of an incoming student that resided in Wellesley holding a firearm. The officer went to the student’s home and spoke with his parents and the student and learned that the student has a friend who lives out of state and is a firearms dealer and the photograph was taken out of state. He indicated he understood how a photograph of him holding a firearm could be alarming to some individuals and he would reach out to the campus police department to discuss the photograph with them.
On August 18, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. an officer spoke with a reporting party who had fallen victim to a cryptocurrency scam. The reporting party received a text message from an unknown individual and after texting for several days the unknown individual indicated they were wealthy and could help them invest in cryptocurrency. The reporting party invested $3,000 into a Global-Assets account and later attempted to withdraw some funds and received a message that more money would need to be deposited to access the funds. The reporting party became suspicious and confronted the unknown individual they had been texting. That individual then became hostile towards the reporting party. He was advised to block the phone number and not to respond to any representatives from Global-Assets.
On August 18, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. detectives observed what they believed to be an illegal drug transaction occur. They stopped and spoke with the female party involved who admitted she had purchased narcotics. She will be summonsed to Dedham District Court for Possession of a Class A Substance and Possession of a Class B Substance.
On August 21, 2025, at 8:32 a.m. an officer spoke with a female reporting party regarding computer fraud. She stated that she had been communicating with two individuals via Facebook messenger and one of the individuals asked her to send them $500 for medical bills. The reporting party stated she did not send any money but was concerned they may have accessed her bank account. The reporting party provided the officer with the name and contact number of a family member. The officer followed up with the family member who indicated they are aware their mother communicates with these individuals and have encouraged her to stop as it is a scam. They will check her bank account to see if there have been any fraudulent transactions.
On August 21, 2025, at 6:50 p.m. an officer spoke with a female party who stated an unknown individual had been parked across the street for several hours and when they left, they found a trunk in front of their driveway. The trunk contained a small amount of bubble wrap. The officer contacted the Department of Public Works to request that they remove the trunk from the roadway.
On August 21, 2025, at 10:35 p.m. an officer spoke to a reporting party about a fraud scheme. The reporting party found an apartment in Chicago online through a Facebook group and paid a month’s rent and security deposit totaling $ 2,300 to an individual she believed to be the property owner via Zelle. Once she completed the payment the unknown individual stopped communicating with her. She contacted the apartment complex in Chicago, and they advised her that they had had multiple reports about the same unit. The incident is under investigation.
On August 22, 2025, ACO Smith spoke with a female reporting party who had been walking at 6:40 a.m. and was frightened by a dog that was approaching her off leash and she fell on the ground. The reporting party stated the dog walker did not acknowledge her or check to see if she was okay. She requested assistance in identifying the dog. ACO Smith could not locate a dog matching the description that was licensed in the area of the Sudbury Path.
On August 22, 2025, at 6:28 p.m. an officer was dispatched to the area of CVS for a report of individuals selling candy outside the store. When the officers encountered the male party and advised him to leave the area he agreed to leave. The store employee who reported the individual indicated that it is a recurring issue that individuals will sell candy outside the store and the store security has advised them to contact the police when they are there.
On August 25, 2205, at 4:34 p.m. an officer spoke with a reporting party regarding a past motor vehicle breaking and entering. The reporting party stated when he entered his vehicle in the morning, he noticed his glove box and center console had been opened and thought another family member may have done it. He said when he arrived at work, he noticed his wallet and checkbook were missing. He had already notified his credit card companies and bank and there were no fraudulent charges or suspicious activity on his accounts. The reporting party did not have any security cameras on his property that would have captured an image of the suspect(s) breaking into the vehicle.
On August 28, 2025, at 4:10 p.m. an officer spoke to a reporting party regarding damage to their vehicle. The reporting party stated that at some point in the past few days someone had intentionally scratched their vehicle. The officer looked at the reporting party’s vehicle and noticed the long scratch he mentioned as well as several other scratches on the vehicle.
On August 30, 2025, at 12:15 p.m. an officer spoke with a reporting party regarding check fraud. The reporting party stated he mailed a check in a blue US Postal mailbox on Washington Street in Wellesley Hills on August 15th and when it cleared on August 27th he noticed the payee and amount on the check had been altered. He reported the fraud to his bank and closed the checking account. The incident is under investigation.
On August 20, 2025, at 10:41 p.m. officers were dispatched to the area of the Bates School for a report of youths in the area after hours. Upon arrival the youths fled the area into the woods. A little while later an officer encountered 5 youths a short distance away getting into a ride share and spoke with them. It was determined that they had been at the Bates School and were staying with a friend who resides in Wellesley. They were transported to the friend’s home, and the officer spoke with the parent of the friend about them trespassing on school property after hours.
